Seasonal warning: Fake delivery texts rise around the holidays
When more parcels are moving, courier-impersonation “missed delivery / pay a fee” texts spike, linking to card-harvesting pages.
During busy shopping and shipping periods, fake delivery texts impersonating couriers rise sharply. The message claims a parcel is held over a small redelivery or customs fee, with a link to a fake page that captures your card and personal details.
Because many people are genuinely expecting parcels, the timing makes the text feel plausible. Verify any delivery only in the courier's official app or website using the tracking number from your own order.
What to do
- Don't click links in unexpected delivery texts
- Check tracking in the courier's official app/site
- Never pay a “fee” or enter card details via a text link
- Report and delete the message
