AI-Powered Fake Telegram Support Bot Scam
Criminals deploy AI-powered bots on Telegram that impersonate Telegram's official support, engaging users in natural conversation before stealing account credentials, two-step verification codes, or cryptocurrency under the guise of account assistance.

Telegram's own automated bot ecosystem means users are accustomed to interacting with bots for everything from games to notifications. Criminals exploit this familiarity by creating bots that impersonate Telegram's official support infrastructure with AI-driven responses that feel genuinely helpful and human.
The fake support bot is often promoted through compromised group chats, fake Telegram channels, or spam messages that claim the user's account has a problem. When a user interacts with the bot, it engages in a fluid back-and-forth dialogue — asking clarifying questions, expressing concern, and proposing solutions — in a way that manual scripts cannot match.
The bot guides the conversation toward credential collection, two-step verification PIN extraction, or cryptocurrency payment for a fabricated premium support service.
How this scam works on the Telegram brand
Telegram's real support is accessible at t.me/TelegramSupport and through the app's help section. The genuine support bot does not ask for passwords, two-step verification PINs, or payments of any kind.
The fake support bot typically contacts users after they search for help in a Telegram group or after a scam channel posts that 'official Telegram support is available in this thread'. The AI responds to any message in a contextually appropriate way, mimicking the tone of a helpful technical support agent.
As the conversation develops, the bot suggests that the user must 'verify their account' to resolve the problem, asking for the six-digit Telegram login code, the two-step verification PIN, or both. It may also claim a small fee is required for 'premium technical support', directing the user to a cryptocurrency address.
Common red flags
- A Telegram bot or account claiming to be Telegram Support contacts you proactively about an account problem.
- The official @telegram account and Telegram's real support (@TelegramSupport) never ask for your password or two-step verification PIN.
- The bot offers a premium support tier requiring a cryptocurrency payment.
- The bot's responses feel AI-generated — very fluid but somewhat generic, with slight contextual oddities.
- The contact arrives through a group chat or channel rather than through Telegram's own Settings > Help > Ask a question.
- Urgency: 'Your account will be permanently deleted within 6 hours unless you complete verification.'

Frequently asked questions
How do I access real Telegram support?
Go to Settings > Help > Ask a question within the Telegram app. This connects you to the official Telegram support system. Genuine Telegram support does not ask for your password, two-step verification PIN, or any payment.
Can I tell whether I am talking to an AI bot or a human scammer?
AI-powered bots in 2025 and 2026 can carry on contextually appropriate conversations that are hard to distinguish from a human. The most reliable test is not to try to detect AI — instead, never share credentials or make payments regardless of how natural the conversation feels.
I gave the fake bot my two-step verification PIN. What do I do?
Change your two-step verification PIN immediately at Settings > Privacy and Security > Two-Step Verification. Also check your active sessions for any unrecognised devices and terminate them. If you were locked out, use Telegram's account recovery process.
