TikTok Impersonation Scams
Scammers impersonate TikTok with fake creator fund payment emails and account verification warnings. TikTok will never ask you to verify your account or claim earnings by clicking an unsolicited email link.

TikTok's rapidly growing creator economy has created a new target: fake Creator Fund or TikTok Shop payment notification emails that direct content creators to phishing sites. General users are also targeted with account suspension warnings designed to create panic.
Because many TikTok creators are younger users with limited experience of phishing, and because real TikTok notifications can look very similar to fakes, understanding the tell-tale differences is important.
How scammers impersonate it
- Sending emails claiming a TikTok Creator Fund payment is ready but requires account verification to release
- Sending account-suspended warnings with links to fake TikTok login pages
- Impersonating TikTok support on Discord and in comment sections offering to restore banned accounts
- Creating fake 'TikTok verified badge' offers requiring personal information and payment
- Sending fake TikTok Shop seller payment notifications to harvest merchant credentials
What the real organisation never does
- Ask you to verify your account or release earnings by clicking an unsolicited email link
- Offer verified badges in exchange for payment outside of the official TikTok application process
- Contact you via Discord or comment sections about account restrictions
- Ask for your TikTok password or two-factor code via email or social media
Common red flags
- Email about Creator Fund or TikTok Shop earnings with a link to a non-tiktok.com domain
- Account suspension notice with a verification link outside the TikTok app
- Verified badge offer requiring payment or personal data via an external site
- TikTok support contact found in a comment section or Discord DM
- Email sender domain not matching @tiktok.com
Sanitized example messages
Illustrative, sanitized examples. Personal details are replaced with placeholders such as [phone number] and [fake link].
Email: 'TikTok Creator Fund: Your payment of $[amount] is ready. Verify your account at [fake link] to receive your funds.'
Comment reply: 'Your account has been flagged. DM @TikTokSupport[fake account] to avoid suspension.'
How to verify
- Access your TikTok account, earnings, and notifications only through the official TikTok app

- TikTok verified badge applications are managed through the official creator tools, not via third parties
What to do if you're targeted
- Change your TikTok password and check for any unauthorised account changes
- Report fake accounts or emails to TikTok via the in-app reporting feature
- If a TikTok Shop account was compromised, contact TikTok Seller Centre support immediately
Frequently asked questions
I received an email about a TikTok Creator Fund payment — is it real?
Check your earnings directly inside the TikTok app. Do not click email links to access or release payments. Genuine earnings notifications appear in the app without requiring external verification.
