Uber Impersonation Scams
Scammers impersonate Uber with fake account-suspension emails and spoofed driver income alerts. Uber will never ask you to re-verify your account by sending crypto or gift cards.

Uber's wide global user base means phishing campaigns targeting its name are highly likely to land in real customers' inboxes. Account suspension emails claiming urgent re-verification, fake driver earning statements, and fraudulent Uber Eats order notifications are all used to direct victims to credential-harvesting sites.
For drivers, impersonation takes a more targeted form — fake Uber partner communications claim that a payment issue requires bank detail re-submission via an external form.
How scammers impersonate it
- Sending fake account-suspension emails with re-verification links to phishing pages
- Targeting Uber drivers with fake 'payment hold' emails asking for bank detail resubmission
- Sending fraudulent Uber Eats order confirmation or refund emails
- Impersonating Uber support on social media and directing users to fake help sites
- Creating fake 'Uber partner' apps or portals to harvest driver login credentials
What the real organisation never does
- Ask you to verify your account or resolve a payment hold by following an unsolicited email link
- Request payment via gift card or cryptocurrency for any reason
- Ask for your Uber password or one-time sign-in code via email or phone
- Direct drivers to submit bank details through a non-uber.com website
Common red flags
- Account suspension email with a link to a domain other than uber.com
- Driver email about a payment hold requiring bank detail submission via external form
- Social media account claiming to be Uber support asking for account details via DM
- Uber Eats refund email asking for bank details to process the credit
- Sign-in code requested by a caller claiming to be Uber verification
