Vodafone Impersonation Scams
Scammers impersonate Vodafone with fake account suspension texts and fraudulent prize notifications. Vodafone will never ask you to verify your account or claim a reward by clicking a link in an unsolicited text.

Vodafone serves customers across multiple countries, and its brand is used in smishing and phishing campaigns targeting users in the UK, Germany, Australia, and beyond. Texts claiming that an account is suspended or that a prize is available direct recipients to fake Vodafone login pages or premium-rate subscription services.
SIM swap fraud using the Vodafone name also affects customers — fraudsters call Vodafone stores or customer service impersonating account holders, then port the number to a new SIM they control.
How scammers impersonate it
- Sending texts claiming a Vodafone account is suspended with a verification link
- Sending fake prize or reward notifications directing customers to third-party sites
- Attempting SIM swaps by visiting Vodafone stores with fake identification
- Creating fake Vodafone login pages to steal My Vodafone account credentials
- Operating fake Vodafone customer service lines promoted through search ads
What the real organisation never does
- Send unsolicited texts asking customers to click a link to prevent account suspension
- Ask for your My Vodafone password or account PIN via text or email
- Request that customers visit a third-party site to claim a Vodafone prize
- Process a SIM swap via a link in a text message
Common red flags
- Text claiming account suspension with a link to a non-vodafone.com domain
- Prize notification text requiring you to visit a non-Vodafone website
- Vodafone customer service number found in a search engine ad
- Email from a sender domain not matching the official Vodafone domain for your country
- Call from someone claiming to be Vodafone and asking for your account PIN to process a change
Sanitized example messages

Text: 'Congratulations! You have been selected for a Vodafone loyalty reward. Claim your prize at [third-party site].'

Frequently asked questions
I received a text saying my Vodafone account is suspended — what should I do?
Open the My Vodafone app directly to check your account status. Do not click the link in the text. If the app shows no issue, the text was a smishing attempt.
