Is a Telegram channel claiming to sell stolen data or hacking services legitimate?
These channels are almost always scams. They take payment for services they cannot deliver, or the 'service' itself is illegal.

Explanation
Telegram hosts thousands of channels advertising stolen credentials, database dumps, social media account hacks, and 'hire a hacker' services. Most are exit scams: they take cryptocurrency payment, deliver nothing, and block the buyer. A minority deliver low-quality or fabricated data dumps that are worthless. In both cases the buyer has been defrauded with no legal recourse. Engaging with these services also exposes the buyer to criminal liability for handling stolen data or commissioning unlawful access, even if they receive nothing in return. These channels survive by cycling through new names after enough complaints.
Common red flags
- Service advertised on Telegram, dark web forums, or anonymous accounts
- Payment in cryptocurrency with no refund option
- Claims to sell database dumps, hacked accounts, or custom hacks
- Channel reviews are positive but accounts created recently
- No verifiable track record outside the platform
What to do now
- Do not engage or pay — you will be defrauded or implicated in a crime
- If you have been scammed, report to your national fraud authority
- If your own data appears in a dump, change passwords and enable 2FA
Frequently asked questions
What if I want to hire a hacker to recover my own account?
Legitimate account recovery goes through the platform's official support process, not a third-party Telegram channel. Any unsanctioned access to accounts is illegal regardless of ownership claims.
