Creator Fund Payout Phishing
A phishing message impersonating a platform's creator monetization program, asking creators to "verify" account or bank details to release a payout.
Also known as: creator payout phishing, monetization phishing scam

Creator fund payout phishing targets people monetizing content on video, livestreaming, or social platforms by impersonating the platform's official payments or creator fund team. The message claims a payout is on hold, a monetization review is required, or a bonus is available, and directs the creator to a fake login page or form asking for account credentials, bank details, or tax identification numbers.
Because creator payout systems are genuinely complex, involving thresholds, review periods, and occasional holds for policy checks, creators are primed to believe a message about a payout issue even when it did not originate from the platform. Stolen credentials are then used to redirect real payouts to the attacker's own bank or payment account, and stolen tax or identity information can be used for further fraud.
Creators should manage payout and monetization issues only through the platform's official creator dashboard, never through links in email or direct messages, and should verify any unexpected payout communication by logging into the platform directly rather than clicking through.
Examples
- An email claims a creator's monetization payout is on hold pending "account verification" and links to a fake login page that harvests credentials.
- A message offers a supposed bonus from a platform's creator fund in exchange for confirming bank details on an external form.
