Norway's high online-shopping rate and widespread use of Vipps for micro-payments make fake delivery SMS an effective attack vector. Scammers impersonate Posten Norge, Bring, or PostNord Norway, claiming a parcel requires a small NOK payment or updated address before delivery.
Norwegian users who follow the link and enter Vipps credentials may find them used to authorise unauthorised transfers. The Norwegian Consumer Council (Forbrukerrådet) and NCSC Norway (NSM) track these campaigns and issue periodic warnings.
How this scam works on Norway
An SMS arrives appearing to be from 'Posten' claiming 'Vi kunne ikke levere pakken din' (we could not deliver your parcel), with a link to a convincing fake posten.no lookalike requesting a NOK 19–49 customs or redelivery fee via Vipps or card.
If Vipps credentials are entered, the attacker uses them to approve larger transfers. Android users may be asked to install a fake Bring/Posten tracking app that harvests device permissions.
Campaign intensity peaks around Christmas and e-commerce sales events when genuine Posten Norway volume is highest.
