Fake Disney+ Content Creator Verification Badge Scam
Scammers offer fake Disney+ Creator Network verification badges or official Disney Creator partnerships to fan content creators in exchange for fees or personal information — no such paid badge service exists.

Disney operates a genuine creator program called 'Disney Creator Lab' which offers selected content creators access to Disney assets for fan content. Participation is by invitation based on Disney's own selection criteria and is entirely free. Disney does not charge creators for verification badges, creator network memberships, or partnership listings.
Disney has an enormous global fan community of cosplayers, fan artists, fan fiction writers, and content creators who aspire to be recognised by the brand. Scammers exploit this aspiration by advertising fake Disney Creator verification opportunities through social media, Discord servers, and fan forums.
Beyond money, these scams aim to collect personal identifying information, social media account credentials, and, in some cases, original fan artwork uploaded to verify 'content eligibility.'
How this scam works on the Disney+ brand
A Disney fan creator receives a DM on Instagram or a message in a Disney-themed Discord server from an account claiming to represent 'Disney Creator Partnerships.' The message says the creator has been selected for a 'Disney Verified Creator' badge and provides a link to apply via an official-looking form.
The form requests the creator's real name, address, social media handles, and a $75 registration fee. After payment, the creator is told to await review for 4-6 weeks. No badge, partnership, or Disney contact ever materialises.
A credential-theft variant asks the creator to 'connect your social accounts to verify your Disney Creator profile,' using fake OAuth pages to capture Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube credentials.
Common red flags
- Disney's genuine creator programs are free and are communicated through official Disney channels — not unsolicited DMs.
- Any request for payment to join a Disney Creator partnership or receive a verification badge is a scam.
- The message arrives via a Discord account, Instagram DM, or email not from @disney.com or @disneycreatorlab.com.
- You are asked to connect social media accounts via a link that is not the official OAuth page for that platform.
- The form requests personal information such as your home address for what is supposed to be a digital creator badge.
- The 'representative' cannot provide any verifiable reference to the real Disney Creator Lab program at creators.disney.com.
How to protect yourself
- Research Disney's official creator programs at creators.disney.com — all legitimate programs are documented there.
- Never pay a fee to join any brand creator program — these are marketing partnerships that benefit the brand and are offered at no cost.
- Do not connect social media accounts to third-party pages claiming to verify Disney creator status.
- Report suspicious Discord accounts or DMs to the Disney fan community moderators and to the platform.
- If you paid for a fake badge service, dispute the charge with your card issuer and report to the FTC.
How to report it

Frequently asked questions
Does Disney have an official creator program?
Yes — Disney Creator Lab (creators.disney.com) is an official program for fan content creators. Participation is by invitation and is free. Disney does not charge creators for badges or membership.
Can I use Disney characters in my fan content legally?
Fan content rules are complex and governed by Disney's intellectual property policies. The Disney Creator Lab provides guidance for approved creators. Using Disney IP without authorisation can lead to takedowns regardless of any supposed badge.
How do I report an account impersonating Disney on Instagram or Discord?
On Instagram, tap the three-dot menu on the profile > Report > Pretending to be someone else. On Discord, right-click the account > Report. You can also forward details to Disney at disney.com/contact.
