Fake Disney+ Beta Feature Access Scam
Scammers send fake invitations to exclusive Disney+ feature betas — such as early access to a new interactive experience or 4K upgrade — collecting subscribers' login credentials or payment details through fraudulent onboarding portals.

Last reviewed: 8 June 2026
Disney+ regularly introduces new features to its platform, and genuine announcements about immersive experiences, expanded content libraries, or app improvements are publicised through official channels. The audience of Disney+, which spans families with children and passionate fans of Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar, is highly motivated by the idea of exclusive early access.
Scammers exploit this enthusiasm by sending emails or social media posts claiming to invite a selected group of Disney+ subscribers to test a new interactive feature, a spatial audio experience, or an early-release film screening. The invitation looks authentic, with Disney+'s colour scheme and iconic logo.
The sign-up link leads to a fake Disney+ portal requesting the subscriber's login credentials to 'link their account' and sometimes a small payment to 'activate the beta tier'. Neither action grants any access — they result in credential theft and financial loss.
How this scam works on the Disney+ brand
Disney+ communicates feature updates through the app itself, at disneyplus.com, and through its official social media accounts. Disney does not cold-email subscribers inviting them to pay for beta access to new features.
The fake portal uses Disney+'s familiar hotstar-influenced dark background, the Disney+ logo, and references to beloved content franchises to create authenticity. The sign-up flow asks for the subscriber's Disney+ email and password to 'link their existing account', then presents a payment step for a 'beta membership deposit' or 'priority activation fee'.
After submitting credentials, the victim is shown a congratulatory screen with a fake activation timeline. The attacker then logs into the real Disney+ account, changes the recovery email, and may upgrade the subscription at the victim's expense before the victim notices.
Common red flags
- An unsolicited email invites you to a Disney+ beta programme you did not apply for.
- The email sender domain is not @disneyplus.com or @disney.com.
- You are asked to pay a fee to access the beta feature — Disney+ does not charge additional fees for feature betas.
- The sign-up portal URL is not disneyplus.com.
- The invitation uses urgency: 'Only 1,000 slots available — claim yours in the next 6 hours.'
- The portal requests your Disney+ password — legitimate Disney+ flows use their own authenticated session.
How to protect yourself
- Monitor real Disney+ feature announcements only at disneyplus.com or through the Disney+ app itself.

- If you submitted credentials, change your Disney+ password immediately and check that your payment method has not been changed.
- Review active streaming locations and devices at disneyplus.com/account and remove any you do not recognise.

Frequently asked questions
Does Disney+ invite subscribers to paid beta programmes via email?
No. Disney+ announces feature updates through the app and official website. It does not cold-email subscribers with exclusive paid beta invitations requiring an external sign-in or additional fee.
What should I do if I paid the fake beta fee?
Contact your bank or card issuer immediately to dispute the charge. Also change your Disney+ password and review your account's payment details and linked devices at disneyplus.com/account.
Can I sign up to genuinely test new Disney+ features?
Disney+ occasionally surveys subscribers and rolls out A/B feature tests through the app itself. Keep your app updated to receive legitimate new features — there is no separate beta sign-up programme accessible via email.
