Task Scams in Lebanon
Fake micro-task jobs target Lebanese job-seekers via WhatsApp with promises of dollar income for simple online tasks, before trapping victims in a USDT deposit cycle.

Task scams have become prevalent in Lebanon as economic desperation makes any income opportunity attractive. Targeting the large population of unemployed young Lebanese, fraudsters offer USD-denominated micro-task income — a powerful incentive in a country where the lira has collapsed — through WhatsApp recruitment.
The dollar-denominated promise is a deliberate adaptation: in a country where fresh dollars are scarce, an offer to earn USD for simple online tasks appears genuinely valuable. The USDT deposit requirement is only revealed after trust has been built through initial genuine small payouts.
How this scam works on Lebanon
A WhatsApp message or Facebook Group post advertises USD 20–100 per day for completing online tasks — liking posts, rating apps, or booking hotels to improve ratings. Tasks are completed through a Telegram bot or custom APK. Initial payouts of USD 5–10 in USDT are genuine and prompt further engagement.
An invitation to a 'VIP group' with USD 50–200 tasks requires a USDT deposit of USD 50–500 to activate. The platform shows the deposit plus a growing commission, but withdrawal requires completing a 'full set' of tasks whose total always requires at least one more deposit. The cycle continues until the victim cannot or will not deposit further.
Group chats populated with apparent Lebanese colleagues posting constant withdrawal success stories are maintained by bots to sustain the deception. Some operators use Lebanese dialect Arabic messages to increase credibility with local victims.

Frequently asked questions
Why are task scams so effective in Lebanon right now?
Lebanon's economic crisis has created severe unemployment and a desperate need for income, particularly in USD. Task scams exploit this desperation precisely. Any offer that seems to provide easy dollar income should be approached with extreme scepticism regardless of how convincing the initial payouts appear.
