To gain access to your banking app or gift cards under the pretence of issuing a refund, then transfer your real money to themselves while you watch.
Red flags in the message

- Request for remote access to your phone or computer
- Instructions to open your banking app or buy gift cards for a 'refund'
- Urgency — 'act now or the order ships'
- Caller ID may appear as the Amazon helpline number
A safe response
Hang up and check your Amazon account directly through the official app or website. Amazon does not call unsolicited to process refunds via remote access or gift cards.
