The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre is the primary national repository for fraud reports in Canada. Consumers who believe they have been targeted by or fallen victim to a scam can submit a report online at antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca or by calling 1-888-495-8501. Reports are aggregated into intelligence packages shared with law enforcement agencies across the country.
Beyond accepting reports, CAFC publishes regular fraud alerts, seasonal scam warnings, and statistics on the most prevalent fraud types affecting Canadians. It also participates in international information-sharing partnerships with bodies such as the U.S. FTC, the UK's Action Fraud, and Europol to help identify cross-border fraud networks.
To use CAFC effectively, gather all available evidence before reporting: phone numbers, email addresses, website URLs, transaction records, and any communications received. Even if money was not lost, filing a report helps CAFC identify emerging patterns. Victims of identity fraud are also encouraged to contact their financial institution and the two national credit bureaus (Equifax and TransUnion Canada) in parallel.
