Fake FedEx Delivery Text Scam
Criminals send unsolicited texts impersonating FedEx, claiming a parcel could not be delivered and asking recipients to click a link to reschedule or pay a small fee. Real FedEx delivery text notifications are tied to shipments you track and never require payment via an unsolicited link.

FedEx delivers millions of packages every day across the US and internationally, making its brand recognisable and its delivery notifications expected. Scammers exploit this by sending convincing fake delivery texts to random numbers, knowing that many recipients will either be expecting a package or will believe they might have missed one.
The messages are typically brief and urgent: delivery was attempted, action is required within 24 hours, a small fee is needed. The combination of a familiar brand and a small, easily dismissed payment amount is designed to bypass critical thinking.
FedEx's real notification system, FedEx Delivery Manager, sends alerts only for shipments you have specifically enrolled to track or for which the sender has added your mobile number. Unsolicited delivery texts from FedEx are not a standard feature of how the service operates.
How this scam works on the FedEx brand
A typical message reads: 'FedEx: We attempted delivery of your parcel. Reschedule here: [link]' or 'FedEx: A $3.50 redelivery fee applies to your package. Pay now: [link].' The link leads to a FedEx-branded phishing page requesting card or banking details.
FedEx's legitimate delivery instructions work through FedEx Delivery Manager at fedex.com, where you can set delivery preferences, request hold at a FedEx location, or request a future delivery date — all without paying any fee for standard rescheduling.
Some variants target businesses, claiming a shipment cannot proceed until a commercial invoice discrepancy is resolved via a payment link — an attempt to mimic real FedEx Trade Networks and customs brokerage communications.

Frequently asked questions
Does FedEx charge a redelivery fee?
FedEx does not charge a standard redelivery fee for consumer parcels. Rescheduling through FedEx Delivery Manager is free. Any text demanding a fee to rebook delivery is fraudulent.
How can I check if a FedEx text is about a real package?
If the text contains a tracking number, enter it directly at fedex.com in a new browser tab — do not use the link provided. If the number shows no result or an unrelated package, the message is fake.
What is FedEx Delivery Manager?
FedEx Delivery Manager is a free service enrolled at fedex.com that lets you customise delivery preferences for incoming FedEx shipments. It is the legitimate way to manage FedEx deliveries and receive tracking notifications.
