Fake MetaMask Support Scams
There is no MetaMask phone support line or live chat agent. Anyone claiming to be MetaMask support in a DM, by phone, or on social media is attempting to steal your seed phrase or wallet access.

MetaMask is a non-custodial browser wallet, not a company with a traditional customer service operation. It does not have an inbound phone line, a live chat with agents, or an official social media team that DMs users about wallet problems. This fact is both a security feature and a knowledge gap that scammers ruthlessly exploit.
Because MetaMask support does not proactively contact users, any unsolicited support message claiming to be MetaMask is definitively a scam. Yet many MetaMask users — particularly newer ones — do not know this and accept inbound support contact as potentially legitimate, especially when the account looks official.
Fake MetaMask support scams proliferate across Twitter/X, Discord, Telegram, and Reddit. The scammer's end goal is invariably the same: obtaining the victim's 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase. The support pretext merely provides the route to that goal.
How this scam works on the MetaMask brand
A user posts a question in a MetaMask Discord server or on Reddit about a failed transaction. A fake 'MetaMask Support' account with the fox logo DMs them within minutes, offering to help. After some friendly technical-sounding dialogue, the agent directs the user to a 'MetaMask verification portal' where they must 'submit their wallet details' — which means entering the seed phrase.
Another pattern involves Twitter/X: users who tweet at @MetaMask are DM'd by fake accounts with names like @MetaMask_Help or @MetaMask_Support. The accounts look credible at a glance, with the fox logo and recent tweet history, but were created days or weeks earlier.
MetaMask's genuine support is provided through support.metamask.io, a self-service knowledge base and ticketing system. MetaMask does not currently offer live chat or phone support. The MetaMask support ticket system will never ask for a seed phrase — no troubleshooting process requires it.

Frequently asked questions
Does MetaMask have a phone support line?
No. MetaMask does not offer phone support. Any phone number claiming to be MetaMask support is associated with a scam. Use only support.metamask.io for genuine help.
How do I report a fake MetaMask support account on Discord?
Right-click the user's name in Discord, select 'Report,' and choose the impersonation or scam category. Also notify server moderators. If the interaction occurred in an official MetaMask server, flag it to the genuine moderators.
Why is the lack of live MetaMask support a security feature?
A non-custodial wallet has no central authority with account access. Without a traditional support infrastructure, there is no 'agent' who legitimately needs your seed phrase. This makes the scammer's request for it obviously illegitimate once you know MetaMask's model.
