Fake TikTok Creator Brand Deal Phishing Scam
Scammers impersonate TikTok's creator partnerships team or well-known brands to send fake brand-deal proposals to creators, then harvest login credentials or bank details through fraudulent 'onboarding' portals.

TikTok's creator marketplace allows brands to connect with creators for paid campaigns. As the platform has grown, so has creator awareness that lucrative partnership offers can arrive via email or direct message. Scammers exploit this by sending convincing fake brand-deal proposals that mimic TikTok's official communications or those of recognisable brands.
A creator might receive an email that appears to come from TikTok's creator team, or from a household-name brand, explaining that they have been selected for a paid partnership. The email uses professional design, references real TikTok metrics such as follower count or engagement rate, and offers a payment that feels achievable — not implausibly large.
The 'onboarding' link leads to a fake portal that requests TikTok login credentials 'to verify account ownership' and bank account details 'for payment processing'. Victims hand over both before realising the partnership never existed.
How this scam works on the TikTok brand
TikTok's real creator partnerships are managed through the TikTok Creator Marketplace, accessible within the TikTok app at creator.tiktok.com. Legitimate partnership offers from TikTok come from @tiktok.com email addresses and do not require you to log in to a third-party site to accept.
The scam message references real details about the creator — follower count, niche, recent video — assembled from the public TikTok profile. It then explains that the creator must sign an online contract and complete payment setup via a specific link. The linked page is a convincing imitation of either TikTok's interface or a known brand's HR portal.
The login page harvests TikTok credentials, which attackers use to access the account immediately. The bank-detail form is used for direct payment fraud or sold to card-fraud networks. Some variants send a small 'advance payment' via a real payment app to build trust before requesting bank details for the 'main contract'.
Common red flags
- A brand-deal offer arrives via email or DM without you applying through TikTok Creator Marketplace.
- The email or DM asks you to sign in to TikTok via a link rather than through the official app or tiktok.com.
- You are asked to provide bank account details, PayPal login, or tax forms on a third-party website.
- The offer uses urgency: 'Contract must be signed within 24 hours or the slot is given to another creator.'
- The sender email domain is not @tiktok.com but something like 'tiktok-partnerships.com' or 'creator-tiktok.net'.
- The payment amount is suspiciously exact and slightly higher than typical market rates for your follower tier.
How to protect yourself
- Accept and manage all brand partnerships only through the official TikTok Creator Marketplace at creator.tiktok.com.
- Enable two-factor authentication on your TikTok account at Profile > Settings > Security > Two-Step Verification.
- Verify any brand offer by contacting the brand directly through their official website — not via details provided in the offer email.
- Never enter your TikTok login credentials on any site reached via an email or DM link.
- Do not provide bank account or payment details before independently confirming the partnership is genuine.
- Be suspicious of any 'advance payment' followed by a request for bank details — this is a trust-building tactic.
How to report it
- Report the scam email or DM to TikTok at tiktok.com/legal/report/feedback.
- Forward the phishing email to TikTok's support at [email protected].
- Report to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov (US) or Action Fraud at actionfraud.police.uk (UK).
- If you provided bank details, contact your bank immediately to freeze the account and dispute any transactions.
Frequently asked questions
How does TikTok actually notify creators about brand partnerships?
Legitimate TikTok brand partnerships are facilitated through the TikTok Creator Marketplace. You will receive notifications within the TikTok app or at creator.tiktok.com. TikTok does not cold-email creators asking them to log in to third-party sites.
Is it normal for a brand to request bank details before signing a contract?
No. Payment details are exchanged only after a contract is fully signed through a verified platform. Any request for bank account or PayPal credentials before contract execution is a major warning sign.
Can I recover my TikTok account if my credentials were stolen?
Yes. Go to tiktok.com/login and use the 'Use phone / email / username' login, then select 'Forgot password'. If you cannot access the recovery email, contact TikTok Support through the app's Help Center.
