TikTok Creator Fund Phishing Scam on TikTok
Scammers impersonate TikTok's Creator Fund team, messaging creators about 'unclaimed earnings' or 'fund upgrades' to phish login credentials and payout account details.

Because the Creator Fund and its payout thresholds are a genuine source of confusion for many creators, messages claiming to help 'unlock' or 'increase' fund earnings play convincingly on real uncertainty about how TikTok's monetization actually works.
How this scam works on TikTok
A creator receives a direct message or comment claiming to be from 'TikTok Creator Fund Support,' stating their account is eligible for a bonus payout or an upgrade to a newer, higher-paying fund, but that they must first verify their account through an external link. The link leads to a cloned TikTok login page that captures the creator's username, password, and any two-factor code entered, giving the scammer real-time access to hijack the account.
Once inside, the scammer often changes the linked payout information to redirect real Creator Fund or LIVE gift earnings to their own account, and may use the hijacked creator account to run further scams on the creator's own followers, such as fake giveaways, compounding the damage to the creator's reputation as well as their finances.
Common red flags
- A message claims your account is eligible for a special Creator Fund bonus or upgrade
- You're asked to click an external link and log in to 'verify' your account for payout
- The message comes from an account or profile that isn't TikTok's official verified support account
- You're asked to enter a two-factor code on a page outside the real TikTok app
- Your linked payout details change without your knowledge shortly after receiving such a message
- The offer promises earnings far above what TikTok's actual Creator Fund or LIVE gifting typically pays
How to protect yourself
- Check Creator Fund status and payout details only within the official TikTok app under Creator Tools
- Never click external links claiming to verify or upgrade your monetization status
- Enable two-factor authentication using an authenticator app rather than SMS on your TikTok account
- Verify any message claiming to be from TikTok support by checking if it matches TikTok's official communication channels
- Regularly review your linked payout account details within TikTok's creator settings for unauthorized changes
- Report suspicious messages directly within TikTok rather than clicking through them
How to report it
- Report the message or account directly in-app using TikTok's Report feature
- Contact TikTok's official Creator Support through the in-app Creator Tools help center
- Report to your national cybercrime or consumer protection agency if funds were redirected
- Change your password and review connected devices immediately if you entered credentials on a fake page
Frequently asked questions
Does TikTok ever message creators directly about bonus Creator Fund earnings?
Official Creator Fund communications happen within the TikTok app itself under Creator Tools, not through unsolicited direct messages promising bonuses that require clicking an external link.
What should I do if I already entered my login on a fake Creator Fund page?
Change your TikTok password immediately from the official app, enable two-factor authentication, and check your linked payout and connected account settings for any unauthorized changes.
