Task and micro-job scams spread rapidly in Kazakhstan through WhatsApp and Telegram, platforms that are deeply embedded in the country's daily communication culture. Fraudulent offers promise income of several thousand tenge per day for simple online tasks — reviewing apps, rating products, or liking social media posts — with no experience required.
Kaspi's seamless payment infrastructure means both the initial small legitimate payouts and the eventual fraudulent deposit collections can happen almost instantly, accelerating the scheme.
How this scam works on Kazakhstan
A message appears in a shared WhatsApp or Telegram group advertising easy online income. Interested people are added to a dedicated Telegram channel where a 'nastavnik' (mentor or supervisor) assigns tasks. Initial tasks pay small but genuine amounts via Kaspi.
Shortly after, a 'special assignment' is offered requiring a Kaspi deposit to participate. Subsequent tasks require larger deposits, each justified by a plausible reason. The platform balance grows on screen but withdrawal is blocked by a series of new conditions. The group eventually goes silent and the platform becomes inaccessible.
Students and young adults in Kazakhstan seeking supplementary income are disproportionately targeted.
