Fake Home Depot Pro Xtra Points Scam
Fraudsters impersonate Home Depot to send fake Pro Xtra loyalty points expiry notices or special redemption offers, leading victims to phishing pages that harvest account login and payment details.
Part of: Fake Loyalty Points Redemption Scams
Last reviewed: 8 June 2026
Home Depot's Pro Xtra loyalty programme offers contractors and frequent shoppers purchase tracking, volume pricing, and rewards. Because the programme is less well-known to casual shoppers than consumer loyalty schemes like Target Circle, a fake 'Your Pro Xtra points are expiring' message can catch recipients off guard — they may not know enough about the real programme to immediately dismiss the claim.
Scammers also target casual Home Depot shoppers with fake gift card or store credit 'reward' emails, claiming the recipient earned points through recent purchases that can now be redeemed. The message frame is straightforward: you have value waiting, click here to claim it before it expires.
Home Depot's Pro Xtra benefits are managed at proxtrapro.homedepot.com or inside the Home Depot app. Any genuine credit or points balance is visible there. Home Depot does not ask members to click external links to re-enter payment details to claim rewards they have already earned.
How this scam works on the Home Depot brand
The phishing email uses Home Depot's orange and white design and references a specific dollar amount — 'You have $75 in Home Depot Pro Xtra rewards' — and a deadline. A 'Redeem Now' button leads to a fake Home Depot sign-in page.
After the victim logs in, the page may show a realistic-looking rewards dashboard before asking for a credit card number to 'confirm the account receiving the redemption'. Alternatively, the victim is redirected to a fake Home Depot store credit page that captures card details.
A secondary variant targets contractors who use Pro Xtra for purchase tracking. These victims receive a message claiming their Pro Xtra account is being upgraded and they must re-verify their payment method to maintain volume-pricing access.

Pro Xtra is Home Depot's loyalty programme for professional contractors and frequent buyers, offering purchase tracking, exclusive pricing, and paint rewards. Benefits are managed at proxtrapro.homedepot.com.
Do Home Depot loyalty rewards expire?
Some Home Depot promotional credits have expiry dates. Check your account directly at homedepot.com for any real expiry information — do not rely on external emails.
Can casual shoppers be targeted even if they are not Pro Xtra members?
Yes. Scammers send generic Home Depot rewards messages to large email lists. The message may not reference Pro Xtra by name, or may reference it inaccurately. Verifying in your account takes 30 seconds and eliminates doubt.
